What is meant by “Timurid” design?
Timurid refers to the last great dynasty to come from the semi-arid plains of Central Asia. The founder of this short-lived, but vast empire was named Timur (Tamerlane).
In the 14th century he conquered all of Central Asia, greater Iran, Iraq, parts of southern Russia and the Indian subcontinent—all in a matter of 35 years.
Skilled craftsmen from these lands were brought to his capital city. This ushered in a flourishing era of Islamic art and architecture. Many of our products feature designs from this time period.
