Tolken
This design is based on tiles found on the walls of the Old Fortress courtyard.

Named after the game backgammon, the Narda design is taken from a classical 15th century Timurid miniature. Miniature painting was a form of Islamic art found in hand-copied books of poetry and history.

Jacob Bai
This design comes from the front door of the Jacob Bai Hoja Madrassah, once a school where young men studied Islamic theology. It is now the silk workshop in Khiva where this carpet was made.
